2020 Annual Meeting Evangelism/Missions Team Report
This has been one weird year around our country and continues to be difficult. That has caused us to not be able to do one of our major events that we had planned, but several things have been done.
We had planned to and was beginning to promote Bi-Stone Rise Up Day. This was to be a day in which each church in the association would do some kind of mission in their town. Then that evening we were going to come together for a time of worship, sharing, and celebration. As you know this was planned to happen in May and the COVID-19 pandemic hit, so it was canceled. I hope that in the coming year that we would be able to have an event like this.
With that canceled our churches have continued to serve our communities through food banks and local missions. We are going to continue to encourage our churches to work within the local missions to provide for our communities. As well as partnering with missions around our state, nation, and the world.
I would like to let everyone know about a special young lady named Cate Samford. Cate is a member of First Baptist Church Wortham and an active member of their youth groups. When the hurricane hit Louisiana and Texas this summer. Cate heard that DeRidder, LA. was not receiving the resources that other parts of the state were receiving. Cate took it upon herself to organize a water, non-perishable food, and cleaning supply drive for DeRidder. With the support of her family, youth pastor, pastor, local schools, and the churches of the Bi-Stone Association a trailer load of supplies was delivered to DeRidder by Cate and several members of FBC Wortham.
I tell this story because all it takes is a vision, and God’s people coming together for a mission to happen. We are better together!
Thanks,
Shane Norcross
